The Union For Contemporary Art

The Union for Contemporary Art strengthens the cultural and social landscape of our community by using the arts as a vehicle to inspire positive social change. In 2019 we partnered with JKDC to provide web development for The Union's new website. One of our largest websites to-date, we were happy with the way it came together.

We came on board to help transition The Union from a Squarespace site to a fully custom, Craft CMS driven machine. They needed a site that could not only get the word out, but would help them run things more efficiently. We gladly accepted the challenge and dove in.

Like any project, we really focused on mobile. A large portion of The Union's site traffic is on a phone so we pushed accessibility and ease of use. Our goal was to improve the number of people that would RSVP to events, as well as sign up for workshops on their phone.

As usual, JKDC rocked the design. There were many different things to consider along the way and they really improved the UX. There was a budget so we knew where to push and where to cut corners...ya ya ya. UX/UI pieces below. Maybe full layouts.

The Union has an archive of professional photography to work with. The design showcased not only the building and its facilities but the people who frequent the community-focused programming.

We also made it quick and easy to change the site’s global action color. It’s a simple thing, but this will help the experience feel fresh as the site lives on. We launched with a beautiful light blue to help welcome spring to the Midwest.

So rad. Nice work guys!”
